The USPS Announces James Webb Space Telescope Stamp Release Date

The USPS has just announced the release date of its commemorative James Webb Space Telescope forever stamp, as well as a special day-of-issue event.

The USPS James Webb forever stamp was designed by USPS art director Derry Noyes using existing art by James Vaughn and an image provided by NASA and the Space Telescope Institute. Vaughn’s art is a digitally created depiction of the telescope and a background of stars. If you look closely, the background appears to show James Webb from its real position in space, with the Sun, Earth, Moon, and Milky Way featured behind it.

A free day-of-issue event is being hosted by the USPS at the Smithsonian National Postal Museum in Washington DC. Those who wish to attend the public event on September 8th, 2022 at 11 am ET are encouraged to RSVP here.

The new commemorative stamp will come in sheets of 20. This stamp was designed to honor the work James Webb has just started and will continue to do during its mission duration.
